The Exploration of Void series is an introspective look into the self and the feelings of emptiness that we sometimes carry within us. Through this series, we explore the different ways the self searches for meaning, comfort, and the strength to continue its journey through life.

Snack Jack is part of Exploration of Void 3, a chapter focused on sustenance and the ways we nourish both the body and the self. His hunger is not purely physical. It comes from the desire to feel whole, even if only briefly.

Within Snack Jack’s void sits a meal, offering a temporary sense of fullness. The anticipation, ritual, and pleasure of eating quiet the emptiness inside him. For a moment, the body is satisfied, the mind rests, and the world feels a little kinder.

But no meal can remain. It is consumed, the pleasure fades, and the void slowly reveals itself again.

This impermanence does not make the comfort meaningless. Sustenance cannot erase the void, but it can offer the self a moment of relief and the strength to continue.

Snack Jack reflects the endless cycle between hunger and comfort. He reminds us that the void does not always need to be filled permanently. Sometimes a small moment of fullness is enough.

Nigel Goh is a Singapore born multidisciplinary artist based in Helsinki and the co founder of Atom Toys. His work is guided by a single idea the void and the small joys that fill it.

Each character carries a symbolic void within its body, representing the emotional spaces that appear in everyday life. Inside that void sits a small joy, a gentle reminder to appreciate the small wins and quiet comforts we often overlook.

Nigel works across both digital and physical mediums to translate this concept into characters that feel personal and reflective. His approach is inspired by the quiet joy found in Finnish culture, where stillness, small moments, and subtle details hold meaning.

Through Atom Toys, he continues to develop a world that encourages people to slow down, reconnect with themselves, and fill their own voids with the small joys that make life feel lighter and more human.
