JENNA MATTILA

Jenna Mattila builds worlds.

An Finnish artist originally trained as an artisan working in wood, metal, and large-scale sculptural construction, she has created practical pieces and stage environments for Helsingin Kaupunginteatteri, combining structural engineering with painterly atmosphere.

Her craft moves fluidly between heavy materials and weightless pixels. After years of hands-on welding steel, shaping wood, constructing in theatrical backdrops. She transitioned into digital art and now works in the game industry leading visual development.

Whether physical or virtual, her work centers on bringing material in to life: understanding how form, light, and texture shape emotional experience either on touch or visual. She approaches both sculpture and digital design with the mindset of a creator constructing environments that feel lived in, intentional, and immersive.

MANUFACTURING JOY

MANUFACTURING JOY is a installation that reminding us that happiness is self designed and carefully engineered by you. Each figure is formed with a visible void within its body, holding a small joy of life inside. A simple object. A playful symbol. A quiet reminder of something personal and ordinary. It is a reminder that joy is a balance between intention and the appreciation of the smaller moments around us.

This installation is brought to life by Jenna Mattila and crew. Built by hand using wood construction and integrated electric lighting, the factory environment is physically crafted rather than digitally produced. Every structural element, surface, and illuminated detail reflects the team’s hands on process, reinforcing the idea that both the installation and the joy it represents are intentionally made.
